About the event
A bronze statue of Richard Baxter stands in Kidderminster’s Bull Ring, commemorating the man who laboured tirelessly for the spiritual welfare of its people. His writings continue to inspire believers toward godliness and the hope of eternal rest.
During this day retreat, Ron will help us to explore Baxter’s life and legacy, reflecting on themes of heavenly-mindedness and holiness in everyday life. There will be space for personal reflection, prayer, and quiet, as we consider what his example might offer us today.
Richard Baxter (1615–1691) was a prominent Puritan pastor, theologian, and writer, best known for his transformative ministry in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Arriving in 1641 to a spiritually neglected parish, he brought passionate preaching, personal visitation, and practical teaching - turning the town into a vibrant Christian community. His pastoral zeal and emphasis on holy living made him one of the most influential ministers of his age.
