FAQs

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions, in alphabetical order by subject.  If you need further clarification, or have an additional question, please contact us.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Suppose I change my mind about coming?

We urge you to read through our booking terms and conditions carefully before making a booking and ensure that you take out the appropriate insurance to cover your stay or the event of a cancellation.  Sadly, we have to apply charges for all cancellations.  We are a charity, and late cancellations result in a financial loss to Foxhill as well as depriving others of the opportunity to attend.

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT

What are the times?

Bedrooms are available from 4pm on your arrival day, and we ask you to please vacate your room by 10am on the day of your departure.  We are happy to store your luggage if you wish to stay longer to enjoy the grounds.  If you plan to arrive after 5pm please advise us, so we can notify the duty staff.

CHILDREN

Can I bring my children?

Children are always very welcome at Foxhill and there is plenty of space to run around.  But we do ask that they be accompanied by an adult at all times, as there are a few hazards around the grounds, such as our pond.

DEPOSIT

Is one required?

Yes – All bookings must be confirmed with a deposit and completed booking form.  The deposit is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another booking.   Please see our booking terms and conditions for deposit details.

DIETS

Do you cater for vegetarians and special diets?

Our kitchen staff are trained and will be happy to meet any special dietary requirements that you may have.  Please clearly indicate this at the time of booking, either on the booking form itself, or by phoning the Foxhill team if you feel it requires further discussion.

DOGS

Can I bring my pet along?

Assistance dogs are welcome, but unfortunately pet dogs are not permitted in the House. Your dog is welcome to visit the lawns and woodlands (once they are again open).  All we ask is that you follow a few ground rules:

- Dogs are kept under control at all times.

- Do not leave locked in your car.

- Clean up all dog mess promptly, and dispose of it properly.

- Aggressive dogs are not permitted in the grounds

DRINKS IN ROOM

Can I make tea and coffee?

Yes, all bedrooms have kettles and hospitality trays, which can be replenished.

EN SUITE

Do all bedrooms have their own bathroom?

Most bedrooms are en suite.  The exceptions are Room 20 (single) and Rooms 21 & 22 (both twin).  In each case, bathrooms are nearby.

EXCLUSIVE USE

Can we book the whole house?

Yes – exclusive use of the house is available to residential bookings where a minimum of 20 places are booked and paid for.  It must be agreed at the time of booking.  If you require exclusive use for a day conference, that is also possible, but please discuss your needs with Foxhill.

INTERNET

Do you have internet access?

Yes – Wireless internet is available throughout the building.

LIMITED MOBILITY

What facilities are there?

We make every effort to meet the needs of all our guests however our building and facilities do have certain limitations.  Foxhill offers two disabled car parking spaces and ramp access into the side of the building.  We also have lift access to the first floor meeting room and down to the chapel.  There is good access to all ground floor meeting rooms, and the main upstairs meeting room.  If you have difficulty with stairs, please tell us at the time of booking.  We have two twin en-suite rooms with facilities required for those with limited mobility.  We are unable to offer care ourselves, so we ask that you bring your own carer if you will need this attention.  We give carers a 25% discount.  If you need to bring a guide dog, please let us know at the time of booking.

MEAL TIMES

When do we eat?

Breakfast is usually at 8:30am; Coffee 10:30am; Lunch 1:00pm; Tea 4:00pm, Dinner 6:30pm.  If you are a group booking and wish to eat at different times, please let us know prior to your arrival. Conference and large groups will all be seated together, and we invite individual guests to sit together around tables with other guests.

MEETING ROOM

Is the cost of the meeting room included in the cost per person for group/conference rooms?

Yes – one main meeting room will be allocated to your group depending on the size of the group and nature of your event.  Should you require use of additional meeting rooms, these may be available to you but may also incur an additional charge.  Additional meeting rooms must be agreed at the point of booking.

MOBILE PHONES

Do you have a signal?

Due to the rural location of Foxhill the phone signal for mobile phones is very poor, if you manage to receive any signal at all.  It is possible for you to make emergency calls from one of our phones. If you need to make a more private call then this can be arranged by speaking to one of our staff on duty.

BANK HOLIDAYS

Do you open on bank holidays?

Foxhill is normally closed to bookings for one week at Christmas , and on UK bank holidays.

PARKING

Where can we leave our cars?

Our main car park is located in front of the house. We have an extra car park for busier times located at the bottom of the drive.

PAYMENT METHODS

What do you accept?

We encourage payments to be made by bank transfer or cheque (made payable to Chester Diocesan (Foxhill)). A credit/debit card facility is also available, and payments can be made in person or over the phone.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Can we get there without a car?

Foxhill is within easy reach of two railway stations, namely Frodsham and Helsby.  Both stations are about five minutes taxi ride from either station (about £5 per journey).  Taxis are available on the main road in Frodsham or can be booked via  01928 733 7333 (District Taxis).

There are regular bus services into and out of Frodsham.  The house is best reached by travelling to Frodsham, then taking a taxi to the house itself.

If single occupancy of bedrooms is required, the maximum number of residents that can be accommodated is 22.  If some people are willing to share rooms we can accommodate 27 people overnight.
